The Honey bees of Africa are also explained and focuses on the colony, management of bees, harvesting of honey. Fish on the farm are explained lastly, including topics such as types of fish for pond culture, feeding and harvesting.

Course Outcomes

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1

Understand and identify rabbit breeds breeding systems and housing systems.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2

Obtain the required understanding regarding rabbit feeding, management, culling and tanning.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3

Understand the important diseases that affect rabbit production.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4

Gain an understanding of the honey bee colony, the bee hive and the necessary equipment needed to keep bees.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5

Understand and implement specific activities such as swarm control, supering, moving a colony,pollination and pest and disease control required for successful bee-keeping.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 6

Understand the critical factors regarding fish culture such as the dam system, fish species, stocking harvesting and general management.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 7

Implement harvesting systems and understand the future prospects within the fish culture industry.

 

4 Week course at 5 hours per week as a guide, but students can complete on own time
