Course Outcomes

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1

Gain a good understanding regarding basic genetics from cell division, genes, sex discrimination and sex linkage.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2

Understand gene mutations, lethal genes, the effect of the environment, hybrid vigour and heritability.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3

Understand the important selection principles in animal breeding.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4

Identify and understand the important aspects of pure breeding and cross breeding.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5

Understand the importance of livestock improvement such as performance testing, progeny testing and artificial insemination.

 

4 Week course at 5 hours per week as a guide, but students can complete on own time
